Robot Devil

The Robot Devil rules Robot Hell, a garish underworld built to punish robots for sins like coveting and greed. He is vain, theatrical, and eager to make deals, presenting himself with the oily charm of a game-show host who happens to also torture the damned for eternity.

Maurice LaMarche plays him as a pitch-black Orson Welles impression, all velvet menace and self-satisfied grandeur, which makes every sentence sound like a Shakespearean aside. The writers hand him gloriously absurd bits of business, singing musical numbers about hating someone while finding them beautiful, dispensing hypocritical creative advice, that turn a stock devil figure into one of the show's funniest recurring irritants.
