Riq

Riq is a young runner on the Big Brother production, low on the totem pole and treated accordingly by the crew around him. He's sharp-tongued, a little cocky, and quietly ambitious in the way of someone who wants more than fetching coffee. As the outside world starts to unravel, he's just trying to get through his shift.

Riz Ahmed gives Riq a wary, watchful energy that cuts through Charlie Brooker's satire of reality-TV grotesquerie — he's funny without being a joke, ordinary without being forgettable. The character works because he feels like a real person dropped into a nightmare, not a type, and Ahmed plays the mounting dread with restraint rather than hysterics.
