Riley Flynn

Riley Flynn comes home to Crockett Island fresh out of prison, having served time for a drunk-driving crash that killed a young woman. Sober and hollowed out by guilt, he moves through his small hometown quietly, avoiding church, avoiding forgiveness, unsure whether he deserves either as neighbors size him up.

Zach Gilford plays remorse as a low, steady hum rather than a performance of suffering, which makes Riley's stillness magnetic. The writing gives him long, patient conversations about faith and doubt that let the show breathe before anything else happens, and Gilford makes every one of them feel lived-in and unresolved.
