Rico

Riko is a young orphan training to become a Cave Raider at the edge of the Abyss, a bottomless chasm full of ancient relics and worse dangers. Impulsive, cheerful, and stubbornly brave, she dreams of following her vanished mother into its depths, and everything about her points toward the day she finally descends.

Miyu Tomita gives Riko a bright, almost childish energy that the show uses as a lure before it shows its teeth — her curiosity and warmth make the Abyss's beauty and horror land twice as hard. She's written as guileless rather than naive, and that distinction is what makes her endurance so quietly remarkable.
