Rebecca Pearson

Rebecca is a young wife and mother, married to Jack, raising triplets Kevin, Kate, and Randall in the 1980s while nursing quiet dreams of her own — she'd been a singer before motherhood absorbed her life. She's warm, capable, and quietly ambitious, holding the family's daily rhythms together while wondering what she gave up to do it.

The show tells her story out of order, jumping between decades, and Mandy Moore has to play the same woman as a hopeful young mother, a stressed midlife wife, and an older woman decades later — often within the same episode. She finds the throughline in small physical details, so the character feels continuous even as the timeline scrambles around her.
