Rebecca arrives at Cheers as the bar's new manager, brought in when the corporation buys the place, determined to run a tight, respectable ship. Polished and ambitious, she wants to be taken seriously as an executive, chasing career success and, eventually, a rich husband, even as the regulars make that dignity nearly impossible to maintain.

Kirstie Alley plays Rebecca's composure as something perpetually about to crack, and the fun is watching how fast it does. The writing loves humiliating her grand plans within a scene of introducing them, and Alley's gift for flustered, increasingly unhinged desperation turns corporate poise into one of the show's best running jokes.
