Raymond Santana

Raymond Santana is fourteen, a Harlem kid out with a group of friends on an April night in 1989. He's pulled into the police dragnet after the assault on a jogger in Central Park, and what begins as confusion in a precinct hallway becomes hours of pressure from adults he has no reason to trust and no way to resist.

Freddy Miyares plays the exhaustion and fear of a child worn down by adults who have already decided the outcome, never softening Raymond into a symbol. The performance stays physical and immediate — the fidgeting, the flinching, the moments he almost believes what he's being told to say — which is what makes the injustice land as something done to a person, not a case.
