Raymond Curto

Raymond Curto is a soldier in Tony's crew, a familiar older wiseguy face at the card games and the pork store, doing the small unglamorous jobs — running numbers, sitting around, listening. He's loyal-seeming, low-key, easy to overlook, the kind of guy who's always in the room but never at the center of it.

The Sopranos is full of men like Curto — background wiseguys whose ordinariness is the point, and George Loros plays him with a genial, unbothered ease that makes him blend right into the furniture of the crew. That very forgettableness is what the show uses him for: he's proof the mob is mostly tedium, not glamour, until the tedium turns out to matter.
