Rachel Menken

Rachel Menken runs her family's department store, a rarity for a woman in 1960, and knows exactly what she wants from Sterling Cooper's ad men: better work than they think a woman merchant deserves. She meets Don Draper's charm with cool appraisal, unimpressed by his pitch and unwilling to be managed.

Siff plays intelligence as armor rather than sparkle, which makes Rachel one of the few people who reads Don accurately from the start. The show uses her to expose the limits of his charisma—she wants substance, not seduction—and that clarity, rare in this world, is what makes her presence electric.
