Purple Heart Sergeant

A gruff military sergeant who turns up in the ranks of Futurama's occasional forays into war and space-marine parody. He barks orders, expects discipline, and treats the absurdities of Futurama's universe with the flat seriousness of a man who has seen worse. A small, functional cog in a bigger joke.

David Herman, one of Futurama's reliable utility voices, gives him the clipped cadence of a thousand movie-sergeant stereotypes and lets the show's writers do the rest — dropping that stock toughness into a galaxy of bureaucratic nonsense. He's a quick sight gag with a voice, and he lands because he never winks at the joke himself.
