A nameless face in the crowd, the Protestor turns up whenever New New York needs a mob with signs and slogans, hollering about whatever absurd cause the episode requires. Loud, righteous, and gone in a scene, he's less a person than a punchline about the mechanics of public outrage.

Futurama's background gags are half the show's pleasure, and Phil LaMarr's gift for quick, confident voices makes even a one-line rabble-rouser sound fully committed to his nonsense. The joke isn't the character himself but how seriously he takes a cause that will be forgotten by the next commercial break.
