Professor Hubert Farnsworth is Fry's ancient, wild-eyed great-nephew's boss, the founder of Planet Express and inventor of half the gadgets that keep the twenty-first century's last delivery boy alive. He is scatterbrained, cheerfully amoral about danger and expense, and prone to blurting horrifying facts about his own creations as afterthoughts.

Billy West gives him a quavering, delighted-old-man cadence that turns every mad-scientist non-sequitur into a punchline, and the writing never lets his genius soften his negligence — he sends employees into lethal situations without a flicker of guilt, which is funnier than if he meant any harm at all.
