Princess Mary

Mary is Henry VIII's only surviving legitimate child, a solemn, watchful girl whose position at court is already unsettled by the king's restless pursuit of a son. She is devout, quick-minded, and fiercely attached to her mother, Katherine, sensing before she can fully name it that her place in the succession is not as secure as her bloodline suggests.

Lilit Lesser plays her with an unnerving stillness, a child forced to read the adults around her for danger rather than affection. The writing never softens the politics for her age; instead it lets her precocious gravity register just how much is being decided over her head, which makes her small scenes carry disproportionate weight.
