Porcupine Mutant

Porcupine Mutant is one of the sewer-dwelling mutants of New New York, part of the hidden underground community that lives beneath the city, shunned by surface society. Introduced as a face in that crowd, quill-covered and unassuming, they go about mutant life with the quiet resignation of someone used to being unseen and unbothered by it.

There's a specific pleasure in Futurama's background mutants: each one is a single visual joke sustained with total deadpan, and Porcupine Mutant is a good example of the show's gift for turning a passing sight gag into a character with presence. Tress MacNeille's voice work gives even a glance of screen time real texture and personality.
