Police Trainer

A minor figure in Futurama's sprawling New New York, the Police Trainer appears to run officers through their paces, barking instruction with the deadpan self-importance the show gives even its smallest bureaucratic cogs. He's a functionary first, a joke delivery system second, present just long enough to make his point.

Futurama's gag economy runs on exactly this kind of throwaway authority figure, and Maurice LaMarche's voice work supplies instant character: a gruff, drill-instructor certainty that treats absurd future-cop procedure as deadly serious. The joke is entirely in the commitment, and LaMarche never breaks it.
