Police Deputy Indira Olmstead

Indira Olmstead is a sheriff's deputy in small-town Minnesota, competent and watchful in a job that rarely lets her prove it. At home, money is tight and her marriage strained. When a routine call turns strange, her instincts sharpen — she notices what others wave off, and starts asking the questions her department would rather not.

Richa Moorjani plays her with a quiet, coiled attentiveness — the calm of someone used to being underestimated and using it. The writing gives her a double life of small humiliations, at work and at home, that never curdles into self-pity. Instead she keeps doing her job properly, which in Fargo's moral universe turns out to be a radical act.
