Pippa

Pippa is one of the housemates locked inside the Big Brother compound, playing the game of alliances, flirtation and performance for cameras that never stop watching. She has no idea that the outside world is falling apart, and carries on chasing airtime and approval as if nothing else matters.

Dead Set uses its Big Brother contestants to satirise a culture obsessed with being watched, and Kathleen McDermott plays Pippa's self-absorption with a comic, faintly tragic conviction — her insulated vanity becomes darkly funny once the audience knows what she doesn't, and unsettling once she starts to find out.
