Frank Vincent brings decades of mob-movie authority to the role, so Phil never needs to raise his voice to feel dangerous—his stillness does the work. The writing uses him as a mirror to Tony, a man equally proud and rigid, and Vincent plays that rigidity with a coiled, unglamorous menace that never asks to be liked.
