Pfc. Lew "Chuckler" Juergens

Lew Juergens, nicknamed "Chuckler," is one of the young Marines of K/3/5 we meet training and shipping out in The Pacific's ensemble of infantrymen. Easygoing and quick to laugh, he's part of the tight circle of friends around men like Sledge and Leckie, facing the Pacific campaign with the same green nerve and camaraderie as the rest.

Josh Helman plays him with an unforced warmth that makes the character feel like someone you'd actually want in your foxhole — funny without being comic relief, steady without being stoic. The show uses him, and men like him, to root its horror in ordinary human decency, so his presence among the unit carries weight precisely because he seems so unremarkable and real.
