Peter turns up in the world of the Danebury Metal Detecting Club as something of an outsider — smoother, more confident than the regulars, with an easy charm that makes Andy and Lance a little wary. He wants to be taken seriously among people who don't quite know what to make of him yet.

Detectorists thrives on small social frictions rather than big drama, and a newcomer who doesn't fit the club's rhythms is exactly the kind of gentle disruption the show does best. Daniel Donskoy plays him with a light, watchful charm, letting Peter's slight foreignness to this very English world do quiet comic work.
