Paula Pell, a longtime SNL writer rather than a performer by trade, brings a specific comic fearlessness to the role — she's unafraid to be gross, loud, and deeply unglamorous in a way that cuts through 30 Rock's fast wordplay. The character works as a blunt instrument of chaos, and Pell swings it gleefully.
