Paula turns up in the chaotic world of Big Mouth as one of the show's outsized, larger-than-life figures who orbit the kids as they stumble through puberty. She speaks her mind bluntly, enjoys the mess of it all, and treats the awkwardness of adolescence as something to be relished rather than feared.

Maya Rudolph's voice work is the draw here: she can pivot from raunchy to tender in a single line, giving even a minor character real comic snap. The writing hands her big, blunt pronouncements about bodies and desire, and she delivers them with total, gleeful conviction, which is why she's fun to watch every time she shows up.
