Orange Elder

An elder speaks for his people in one of Futurama's stranger corners of the universe, an orange-skinned figure who carries himself with the solemn authority of tribal leadership. He appears briefly, delivers judgment or warning with total sincerity, and treats the absurd situation around him as perfectly ordinary business.

Maurice LaMarche built a career giving throwaway aliens real weight, and this is that gift in miniature: a booming, ceremonial voice applied to a character who exists for a scene or two. The joke is the gravity itself — an elder's solemnity poured into a sketch, making a footnote feel like it has centuries of tradition behind it.
