Old Man

He is Fry's employer by default, the ancient, absent-minded founder of Planet Express who hires his own great-great-nephew without recognizing him. Cackling, forgetful, and prone to inventing horrifying devices for mundane purposes, he delivers each mission briefing with the gleeful indifference of a man who has stopped worrying about consequences long ago.

Billy West plays him with a wheeze and a cackle that make senility sound like mischief rather than decline, and the writing uses his age as a punchline generator rather than a source of pathos. The joke is that he built the future and can barely remember why, which somehow makes him funnier every time he forgets.
