Old Guy

He is one of Futurama's stock elderly extras, wheeled out whenever the show needs a cranky, quavering voice from the back of a crowd. Cantankerous and easily confused, he grumbles about the modern world, misunderstands what is happening around him, and vanishes as quickly as he appeared.

The joke is entirely in Maurice LaMarche's delivery, that wheezy, indignant old-man rasp he can summon instantly and drop just as fast. He needs no backstory to land a laugh; a single line of bewildered complaint, timed right, is the whole performance, and it always works.
