Nutcracker

Nutcracker turns up as one of the odd, quickly-sketched faces that populate Futurama's crowded universe of aliens, robots, and background weirdos. Voiced by Katey Sagal, the character exists mostly at the margins of the main crew's misadventures, the kind of figure the show tosses off for a laugh before moving on.

The appeal here is less about the character itself than about hearing Katey Sagal, already the show's beating heart as Leela, stretch into something small and strange. Futurama's writers loved these blink-and-miss-it bits, and Sagal's willingness to disappear into a one-off joke says something about how game the whole cast was.
