Nurse Ratchet

Nurse Ratchet turns up wherever Futurama needs a clinical, faintly menacing medical professional, clipboard in hand and warmth nowhere in evidence. She administers care with brisk indifference, treating patients like paperwork to be processed rather than people to be soothed, and clearly enjoys the small authority her uniform grants her.

The joke is entirely in the reference: naming her after the iron-fisted antagonist of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest does the characterization before she says a word. Tress MacNeille plays her with a flat, procedural chilliness that makes even routine checkups feel vaguely punitive, a sharp little sight gag dressed up as a supporting player.
