Number Five

Number Five vanished as a boy trying to prove he could survive time travel, and comes back an old man trapped in a teenage body, sharp-tongued and furious about it. He orders coffee like a threat, treats his estranged siblings like subordinates, and is racing against an apocalypse only he seems to understand.

The joke is right there in the casting — a child actor playing someone who has lived decades longer than everyone around him — and Aidan Gallagher never lets it stay just a joke. He plays exhaustion and impatience with total conviction, so the deadpan one-liners land as armor over something genuinely worn down.
