Newsreel Announcer

He appears whenever Futurama needs a burst of fake history: a booming, unseen voice narrating newsreel footage of the future in the clipped, breathless cadences of 1930s cinema. He treats every event, however small or absurd, with the same thunderous, world-historical importance.

Maurice LaMarche's voice does all the work here, dropping into a pitch-perfect Movietone bark that turns throwaway exposition into mock-epic comedy. The joke is the mismatch between grandeur and content, and LaMarche never winks at it, which is exactly why it lands every time he shows up.
