Neil Sutherland

Neil is one of four school mates stumbling through sixth form, the group's genial dimwit who takes everything at face value and worries about nothing. He dances badly, says the wrong thing at the wrong volume, and treats his own obliviousness as a kind of superpower. Girls, exams, humiliation — none of it seems to touch him.

Blake Harrison plays dumb without ever winking at the audience, which is the hard part — Neil never seems to know he's the joke, so the laughs come free of cruelty. His weird home life and total lack of filter make him unpredictable in a group otherwise defined by anxious self-awareness, and that contrast is where a lot of the show's best chaos comes from.
