Near

Near turns up as the quiet successor to L's legacy, a pale, white-haired boy who kneels on the floor stacking dice and toy robots while he talks. He is young, eerily calm, and treats the hunt for Kira as a puzzle to be solved rather than a crusade — detached, methodical, and unnervingly confident in his own intellect.

The writing makes his stillness the threat: while everyone else in the story burns with conviction, Near just plays, and that indifference reads as a kind of terrifying patience. Noriko Hidaka gives him a flat, unhurried voice that never once raises to match the drama around him, which makes his eventual moves land harder.
