He is quiet, competent, and unshowy, more interested in doing his job well than in being noticed. Amid the bravado and chaos of the invasion, he is the steady hand people trust with their lives.

Generation Kill is full of loud personalities, and Bryan works precisely because he isn't one of them. Jonah Lotan plays him with an underplayed professionalism that reads as real competence rather than heroics, and the show trusts him to be the moral center simply by watching him work carefully under pressure.
