Nathaniel Fisher

Nathaniel Fisher runs the family funeral home in Los Angeles, a wry, weathered patriarch with a fondness for cigarettes and blunt truths. He dies suddenly in the show's opening minutes, struck by a bus while driving his new hearse — and then keeps showing up anyway, appearing to his children at odd, unguarded moments.

Richard Jenkins plays a dead man with more presence than most living characters manage, deadpan and needling, offering his grieving kids advice they didn't ask for. The show uses him as conscience, joke, and haunting all at once, and Jenkins never lets the ghost feel like a gimmick — just a father who still has opinions.
