Character
Nancy Wheeler
Nancy Wheeler in Stranger Things (2016), played by Natalia Dyer.
Nancy is Mike's older sister, a Hawkins High sophomore focused on grades and fitting in with the popular crowd, particularly her boyfriend Steve. Sharp, observant and stubborn beneath a good-girl exterior, she barely tolerates her brother's nerdy friends until her best friend Barb goes missing, pulling her out of her comfort zone.
The writing hands Nancy a classic teen-movie setup — nice girl, cool boyfriend, secret crush — and then lets her outgrow it through curiosity and grit rather than romance. Dyer plays her transformation into a monster-hunting investigator with quiet conviction, making Nancy's toughness feel earned rather than borrowed from genre convention.
Nancy Wheeler, portrayed by Natalia Dyer, is a main character in Stranger Things. She is also the protagonist of the novel Stranger Things: One Way or Another. Nancy is an aspiring journalist, and an ally to "the Party". She is the older sister of Mike and Holly Wheeler and the ex-girlfriend of both Jonathan Byers and Steve Harrington.
