Sue Nicholls plays the exaggerated grandeur completely straight, which is what makes it funny — Nadia's theatrical suffering never winks at the audience. Against the agency's more practical ghosts, her fluttering vanity and constant sense of artistic injury give the show a reliable, gently absurd comic engine.
