Mrs. Weaver

Mrs. Weaver drifts through the respectable social orbit of Surbiton that Tom and Barbara Good have deliberately stepped outside of. She is exactly the kind of proper, status-conscious neighbour the Goods' self-sufficiency experiment unsettles — polite on the surface, faintly scandalised underneath, more interested in appearances than in anything actually growing in a garden.

Charmian May plays her with the dry, clipped disapproval that made this show's comedy work: the joke isn't the pigs and vegetables, it's the reaction of people like Mrs. Weaver to them. She's a small role, but she's precisely calibrated suburban propriety, and that contrast is the engine of every scene she's in.
