Mr. Mumford

Mr. Mumford is one of the founding ghosts at Rentaghost, a mild, fussy spectre from an earlier age who takes the business of haunting rather too seriously. He fusses over propriety and procedure, forever flustered by the chaos his fellow ghosts create, and clearly longs for the whole enterprise to run with more dignity than it ever manages.

The comedy lives in the gap between Mumford's prim self-importance and the surrounding absurdity — he wants order in a world built on slapstick and misrule. John Dawson plays that friction with a lovely deadpan exasperation, making a minor, fusspot ghost feel like the show's anxious, put-upon conscience rather than just background noise.
