Mr. Eko

Mr. Eko arrives on the island a stranger to the tail-section survivors, a silent, formidable man carrying a carved stick etched with scripture. Once a warlord who posed as a priest for cover, he has taken his disguise seriously enough that it has begun to reshape him. He speaks rarely, watches everything, and answers violence with unnerving calm.

Akinnuoye-Agbaje plays contradiction as stillness rather than turmoil — a man of enormous physical menace who has chosen, deliberately and without sentimentality, to try to become good. The show lets his faith stay ambiguous, maybe real, maybe another performance, and his silences carry more weight than most characters' monologues.
