Motley

Motley is one of the dungeon's stranger inhabitants in Knightmare, a jester who turns up uninvited to whichever team is fumbling through the maze that week. He talks in riddles and half-truths, offers help that might be a trap, and seems to enjoy the chaos of watching young adventurers try to work out whether he is friend or hazard.

Paul Valentine plays him with a gleeful unreliability that suits a show built on uncertainty — you never quite trust his advice, which is exactly the point. In a series where the dungeon itself is the antagonist, Motley works because he refuses to be sorted into ally or enemy, and that ambiguity keeps young viewers properly on edge.
