Mother Superior

She presides over a religious institution with the quiet, absolute authority of someone used to being obeyed without question. Robed and composed, she meets outsiders with polite formality that never quite thaws into warmth. Beneath the calm is a will that does not bend, and a sense that she knows more than she says.

Kate Dickie has built a career on stillness that unsettles more than shouting could, and she brings that same controlled watchfulness here. The character gives her little dialogue but plenty of silence, and she fills it with the sense of someone quietly assessing everyone in the room, which makes her feel dangerous long before anything happens.
