Morgan Jones

Morgan Jones is one of the first survivors Rick Grimes meets after waking from his coma — a wary father protecting his young son, Duane, in a world gone wrong overnight. He's kind but jumpy, haunted by what happened to his wife, and generous with what little he knows about the dead who now walk.

Lennie James makes Morgan's fear and tenderness feel like the same instinct. In a single episode he sketches a whole ruined life — the grief he can't look at directly, the son he won't let out of his sight — and gives the show its first real measure of what surviving this costs a person, long before the plot asks him to carry more.
