Monica Geller

Monica runs a restaurant kitchen with the same exacting energy she brings to hosting Thanksgiving, cleaning her apartment, and organizing her friends' lives. She's competitive to a fault, keeps score of old childhood grievances, and mothers this group whether they ask for it or not. Underneath the control-freak jokes is someone who genuinely wants everyone fed, safe, and gathered around her table.

Cox plays the compulsions—the color-coded everything, the need to win at any game, any cost—as real character rather than gimmick, so the neat-freak jokes land because you believe a whole personality is underneath them. She's also the group's emotional center of gravity, and the show trusts Cox to carry warmth and control-freakery in the same breath without one canceling the other out.
