Mitch Decker

Mitch Decker is an FBI commander on the ground at Waco, a company man impatient with the slow work of talking. He favors pressure, shows of force, and results, and he chafes against the negotiators asking for patience. Confident and territorial, he wants the standoff resolved on his timeline, not the compound's.

Shea Whigham plays bureaucratic certainty as its own kind of danger, never a cartoon hawk but a man who genuinely believes escalation is prudence. The script uses him as friction against the negotiators' approach, and Whigham's clipped, sure-footed delivery makes that friction feel institutional rather than personal — which is scarier.
