Miss Tibbs

Miss Tibbs is one of the elderly, permanent residents at Fawlty Towers, forever paired with her companion Miss Gatsby. Genteel, easily flustered and endlessly polite, she drifts through the hotel's chaos largely oblivious to it, more concerned with small comforts and proprieties than with whatever disaster Basil is currently causing around her.

She works as ballast against the mayhem — a soft, fussy presence whose imperturbable politeness makes Basil's rage funnier by contrast. Gilly Flower plays her with a birdlike primness that never breaks, so even a single startled glance or genteel murmur lands as a perfectly timed comic beat amid the wreckage.
