Miss Gatsby

Miss Gatsby is one of the elderly permanent residents at Fawlty Towers, forever paired with her friend Miss Tibbs. She potters through the hotel's chaos with placid, birdlike unconcern, more interested in gossip and small comforts than in whatever disaster Basil is currently causing around her.

She's a quiet joke about perspective: while the plot detonates, Miss Gatsby simply doesn't notice, and that obliviousness becomes its own punchline. Renee Roberts plays her with gentle, unhurried calm, a fixed point of genteel normality against which Basil's flailing looks even more unhinged.
