Miss Clinkscales

Miss Clinkscales is a teacher at the middle school, glimpsed mostly through the overheated imaginations of the boys she instructs. In reality she is just doing her job, but in fantasy she becomes something else entirely — impossibly composed, impossibly desired, the blank screen onto which early puberty projects itself.

The joke is precise: puberty doesn't need a real person to attach to, just a voice and a silhouette, and Maya Rudolph supplies both with a sultry, knowing delivery that turns the fantasy sequences into their own tiny comic set pieces. She's less a character than a mirror held up to Andrew's hormones, and Rudolph makes that mirror very funny.
