Miranda Hobbes

A sharp-tongued corporate lawyer navigating Manhattan singlehood, Miranda meets men and love with visible skepticism, armed with a case-closed logic she applies to romance as readily as to her practice. Red-haired, quick-witted, and often exasperated, she's the friend who says the unspoken thing at brunch, wary of sentiment and suspicious of anyone who makes life look easy.

Nixon plays Miranda's cynicism as armor rather than personality flaw, letting flickers of hurt or hope slip through the deadpan delivery. The writing trusts her to be the group's realist without making her humorless, and that friction — between what she believes and what she secretly wants — is where the character's best comedy and truest feeling both live.
