Miranda Hilmarson

Miranda Hilmarson is a Sydney detective sergeant paired with Robin Griffin on a new case, and she meets the world with an eager, unguarded warmth that her job hasn't yet taught her to hide. Still living with her mother, awkward in her own skin, she wants to be liked, to do good police work, and to belong.

Christie plays against her own imposing frame, making Miranda's size a source of vulnerability rather than power — she's tender, easily hurt, endlessly hopeful. The writing lets her be funny and sad in the same breath, a rare instance of a large woman written with real interiority instead of as a joke or a threat.
