Minh lives next door to the Hills with her husband Kahn and daughter Connie, and she never lets anyone forget how well the family is doing. She's blunt, competitive, and quick to needle her neighbors about money, grades, or anything else she can turn into a scoreboard. Warmth exists, but pride comes first.

Lauren Tom gives Minh a clipped, needling delivery that makes her put-downs land like punchlines rather than cruelty, and the show is smart enough to let her superiority complex occasionally crack into real affection for Connie and even the Hills. She's a caricature of striving that somehow stays a person.
