Character
Miles Straume
Miles arrives on the freighter Kahana as one of Charles Widmore's hired specialists, a sardonic young man with a very particular, unexplained talent: he can sense and speak with the recently dead. He's mercenary about it, treating ghosts like a job description, and gives nothing away about why he's really on the island.
Ken Leung plays him utterly deadpan, which makes the show's wilder supernatural claims land as dry fact rather than mysticism. Miles never performs shock or wonder — he negotiates fees. That flat, transactional cool against Lost's escalating strangeness is its own kind of joke, and Leung's timing makes every deflection count.
Many years later, Miles was recruited by Naomi Dorrit to join a science team that arrived on the Island aboard the freighter Kahana. He parachuted onto the Island and was met by the survivors of Flight 815, who at first didn't trust him or the rest of the science team. Miles's mission on the Island was to capture Benjamin Linus, but he later offered to tell his employer that Ben was dead in exchange for $3.
